On November 6, a meeting of the Baikal Scientific and Fishing Council of the Baikal fishery Basin took place at LIN SB RAS

The meeting of the Council was chaired by V.I. Sokolov, the Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries (Rosrybolovstvo). Representatives of the Ministries of Irkutsk Region, Zabaikalsky krai, the Republique of Buryatia, scientific circles, Russian Federation Research Institute of Fishery and Oceanography, the Angara-Baikal Territorial Administration of the Federal Agency for Fishery (ABTUR), FSBI “Glavrybvod” took part in the work of the Council.

LIN SB RAS presented a report detailing the results from hydroacoustic and trawl surveys conducted on Lake Baikal in 2025, and provided recommendations aimed at safeguarding its aquatic biological resources.

The participants of the meeting were shown the Interactive Monitoring Center of the Baikal Natural Territory and Lake Baikal, along with innovative developments in the aquaculture of whitefish, which are being implemented at the Unique Scientific Facility “Experimental Freshwater Aquarium Complex of Baikal Hydrobionts”.
